'Heritage extremists' damaging city The chairman of a business lobbying group has accused "heritage extremists" of derailing Preston's bid to regenerate the city centre. He adds that the Downtown group will launch the next stage of its City Thinking campaign, aimed at boosting public support for regeneration plans, later this week. Mr McKenna said: "We have heritage extremists trying to win listed status for the monstrosity that is the city bus station; neighbouring local authorities objecting to the £700m regeneration of the city centre; and a small but vocal bunch of cynics who I'm sure would "It's about time that those who are positive about the city's future and want to get on and do things worked more closely together."
